"Wavelet Analysis of Non-Gaussian Features in the CMB"

Abstract:

Statistical features of observable fluctuations of the CMB temperature can in principle distinguish between alternative theories of structure formation. After an introduction to CMB and its statistics, I review recent analyses of CMB anisotropies by novel methods, in particular by wavelet decomposition. I discuss recent claims of evidence for a non-Gaussian signal in the COBE maps.
