"Preheating and the Einstein Field Equations"

Matthew Parry
Brown University

Abstract:

We present a fully nonlinear study of preheating, without recourse to linear perturbation theory in the metric or the fields. This is achieved by numerically integrating the Einstein field equations in the post-inflationary universe. We examine two models and find that there may be significant departures from homogeneity during preheating. We discuss what this may mean for primordial black hole production and super-Hubble fluctuations.
