"Do Lens Galaxies Contain Substructure?"

Charles Keeton
Rutgers University

Abstract:

The prospect of using strong gravitational lensing to probe substructure in galaxy halos has generated both excitement and controversy. Some provocative claims have appeared in the recent literature, not all of which can be correct. I will assess the evidence and interpretations related to substructure lensing, in an attempt to clarify where we stand now and what more needs to be done.
