"Cosmology of M Theory Vacua"

John Donoghue
UMass, Amherst

Abstract:

If inflation is assumed to have occurred in the past, then it appears that a multiple domain structure arises in string theory. There are dynamical transitions between the many vacua of the low-energy effective theory. The properties of these transitions and of possible evolutionary pathways will be described. I will describe some consequences for phenomenology, in particular that a scale invariant distribution of quark masses could result from the intersecting braneworlds picture.
