"Explanations for the Accelerating Universe"

Joao Magueijo
Imperial College, London

Abstract:

We review recent evidence for cosmological acceleration. We describe the theoretical dilemma posed by these observations, and examine possible solutions. We describe quintessence models and how they may be derived from dilaton theories. We also examine which varying constant theories provide an explanation for these observations.
