"The Last False Vacuum — Proposal for a Cosmological Constant"

Haim Goldberg
Northeastern University

Abstract:

It is proposed that the apparent non-zero cosmological constant implied by SNe Ia data constitutes the false vacuum energy of an as-yet incomplete chiral phase transition in an asymptotically free hidden SU(2) sector. The model is viable in a substantial region of coupling constant space in the effective low-energy theory, so that no fine-tuning is required.
